The station building dates back to 1878. Today, it no longer serves its original purpose, but inside it preserves evidence of its own history – the original ticket office and staircase; the outer covered platform with preserved wooden elements is also original. On the first floor, there are visible structural modifications from the time when the premises were used for private housing. The building is currently awaiting renovation and the discovery of a new meaningful content.

Michaela Thelenová is engaged in artistic reflection of the post-industrial landscape of North Bohemia. She formulates strong themes connected mainly with the territory of the former Sudetenland through the media of photography and video, currently working mainly with digital photography and computer technology. She thematises individual and collective memory – the processes of its layering over time, the gradual forgetting and recollecting. She reflects the reciprocity of the urban organism and the landscape, the coexistence of industrial agglomerations and residential districts, the impact of industry on the shaping of the landscape. The visible level of personal and social reality is gradually revealed through subtle references, making visible deeper levels of meaning in the region’s turbulent history. She transforms intimate testimony into general meanings, naming general phenomena of society through concrete experiences. For the Festival m3, Michaela Thelenová created a set of postcards evoking the feeling of capturing the atmosphere of a fleeting moment. She complements the images with sentences, recalling familiar situations. The form of the postcard itself naturally carries the meaning of displacement, a journey. The nature of the sensation that we experience while travelling on a train – the changing images of the passing landscape framed by the window – triggers associations of stories and memories. Waiting, standing around, aimlessly walking in the station halls and on the platforms evoke a specific atmosphere that is well known to everyone. We watch sequences of disconnected fragments, but at the same time we catch ourselves automatically triggering the plots of real stories in our imagination. Postcards with parts of the captured, almost intangible landscapes and with personal texts will be offered at train stations in the usual places where printed materials are freely available for passers-by.
