The station building dates back to 1878. Today, it no longer serves its original purpose, but inside it preserves evidence of its own history – the original ticket office and staircase; the outer covered platform with preserved wooden elements is also original. On the first floor, there are visible structural modifications from the time when the premises were used for private housing. The building is currently awaiting renovation and the discovery of a new meaningful content.

Eliáš Dolejší is interested in the artistic possibilities of conveying the synthesis of the basic principles of different spiritual systems, and often finds inspiration in the texts of Mircea Eliade. Through his works he tries to evoke the viewer’s perception of experiencing the sacred. He creates objects and installations from found materials, working with an awareness of the temporality of material reality, expressing intensity and fragility, tension and de-materialisation, and the spatial plasticity of colour. The work Pale Blue Covering, installed on the covered part of the platform of the Řeporyje station building, is a continuation of the installation in the House Gallery in Broumov of 2021. That was entitled Waiting and it enhanced the luminous character of the space, evoking the possibility of simultaneously experiencing the tension of the moment of presence and the calm of resignation. It consisted of a set of “satellites” made of wood and paper suspended from the ceiling, aluminium bowl shapes on the floor suggesting palms in a gesture of acceptance, and light boxes composed symmetrically with the windows in the opposite wall of the space. The shade of the blue of the ceiling objects referred to the artist’s visit to the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua with its Giotto frescoes from the early 14th century. In the installation for the Řeporyje railway station building, Eliáš Dolejší also works with the poetics of sky-blue “satellites”. At the same time, he refers to the present-day reality of satellites placed in Earth’s orbit (Elon Musk’s Starlink orbital constellation, among others). Pale Blue Covering creates an imaginary polar pair with an intended (but as yet unrealised) installation in a burnt-out building on the opposite side of the station track (currently awaiting reconstruction). It is intended to embody decay and disappearance. The existing installation corresponds, among other things, to the idea of the atmosphere of the station from the time of its active operation.
